Import Configs

Edited

The Import Configs page is an administrator tool for reviewing and editing the versioned settings that control how builder data is matched when projects are imported. Every edit is saved as a new version, so nothing is ever overwritten or deleted, and you can always see what changed and go back to an earlier version.

What you see

The main table lists each import config:

  • Builder the config belongs to.

  • Type, either Activity Map (how a builder's schedule events map to ConstructEase requirements, trades, priorities, and inspections) or Community Prefix (how a community is recognized from the start of its code).

  • Scope, either Global when the config is shared across organizations, or your organization's code when it belongs to your organization alone.

  • Active Version, the version imports read right now, or None when no version is active yet.

  • Versions, how many versions exist in total.

  • Updated, when the config last changed.

Click a row to open its full version history below the table.

Version history

Each config keeps every version it has ever had. Each row shows the version number, its state, the note that was saved with it, who created it, and when.

A version is in one of three states:

  • Draft, an edit that has been saved but is not yet in use.

  • Active, the version imports read on their next run.

  • Superseded, a version that used to be active and has since been replaced. It stays in history and can be reverted to.

Click View on any version to see its contents. When an earlier version exists, a Changes vs previous version panel shows exactly what was Added, Removed, or Changed.

Creating a draft

Click New Draft to start editing. The editor opens from the active version, so your changes are always measured against what imports currently read.

For an Activity Map, each row describes one match: the pattern to look for, the requirement it maps to, and the trade, priority, and other settings that go with it. The Inspection setting has three choices:

  • Auto (from name), let ConstructEase decide from the event name.

  • Inspection, always treat the match as an inspection.

  • Not inspection, never treat the match as an inspection.

Use Add Row and Remove to change the list.

For a Community Prefix, each row is a builder name and the prefix that identifies its communities. Each builder name must appear only once; a duplicate is flagged and must be fixed before you can save.

Add a short Note explaining the change, then click Save Draft. A draft does not change any import until you activate it.

While a draft is open, ConstructEase can show a way to preview it against previously captured import data before you commit to it. This preview is available in development only.

Activating a version

Click Activate on a draft and confirm. Imports read the newly active version on their next run, and the version that was active becomes superseded. If someone else has changed the active version since you opened the page, activation is refused so no work is lost; reload the page and try again.

Reverting

Click Revert on an active or superseded version to create a new draft that copies that version's contents. Review the draft and activate it to put the older settings back into use. Because reverting creates a new version rather than deleting anything, the full history stays intact.

Permissions

Anyone who can sign in and reach their organization can view import configs. Creating drafts, activating a version, and reverting all require administrator access.
