Communities
The Communities page is where you manage the communities your projects belong to, along with their builder, division, and kit settings.
Finding communities
Communities are split into tabs by warranty status:
Active: communities currently in development.
Under Warranty: communities still within the builder's warranty period.
Warranty Expired: communities whose warranty has ended.
The table shows Code, Name, Group, Builder, Division, City, the enabled Trades, a Kits count per trade, and the number of Active Projects. Click a community Code to open its details.
On the Under Warranty and Warranty Expired tabs, choose a builder first. Until you do, the page prompts you to select a builder, and once selected it shows that builder's warranty duration.
Filtering and searching
Filter by division, Builder, and Trade, and search by Code or by community name. The search boxes support "contains", "begins with", and exact match.
Adding and managing communities
Add Community: create a new community.
Edit: open a community to change its settings.
Delete: remove a community. You will be asked to type its name to confirm.
These actions appear based on your permissions.
When you add a community, the Enabled Trades start out checked for the trades your organization has project requirements for. You can still check or uncheck any trade before saving.
A community Code must be 7 characters or fewer. If you enter a longer code when adding a community or when changing an existing one, saving is blocked and you are asked to shorten it. Communities that already have a longer code keep working, and you can still edit their other settings without changing the code. A code that is still too long will block pushing that community's projects to Dynamics 365 until you shorten it.
When you change a community's Code and save, you are asked to confirm updating the community's Project IDs to match the new code. Only projects that have not been synced with Dynamics 365 are updated. Any project whose data has already synced to Dynamics 365 keeps its original Project ID, since that ID is what links the project to its Dynamics 365 records. If you cancel, neither the code change nor the Project IDs are saved.
Permissions
You need Communities view permission to open the page. Creating, editing, and deleting communities each require their own permission.
